Description

• Overseeing customs compliance, providing support to the business and maintaining strong working relationships with our customs agents. • Ensuring all imports and exports are conducted in full compliance with international trade regulations, tariffs and customs laws.

Requirements

• Ensure all import and export activities comply with relevant customs laws, regulations and international trade agreements. • Take ownership of all necessary HMRC approvals relating to customs duties. • Obtain and review all necessary documentation relating to customs clearance, including bills of lading, certificates of origin and other required documents. • Conduct reviews of all import/export declarations made by external customs agents. • Accurately classify goods according to the UK Trade Tariff and EU CN Codes to determine applicable duties and taxes. • Supervise and reconcile the company’s import duty deferment account. • Conduct regular internal audits to assess compliance with customs regulations and identify potential risks or areas for improvement. • Develop and implement strategies to minimise compliance risks, including the assessment of potential penalties and fines. • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, government agencies and internal departments to ensure smooth customs clearance processes. • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on customs compliance procedures and regulatory updates. • Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and industry best practices to ensure the company’s compliance strategy and internal regulation remains effective and up to date.
