• A strong academic background in Engineering, gained either by degree or vocational route • Proven, extensive, hands-on experience developing and delivering products into manufacture • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles • Knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes • Can rapidly get up to speed with new technology and ideas • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Great active listening skills • Able to generate clear and accurate visualizations of quantitative data • Demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities • Can effectively shepherd projects from initial highly ambiguous ideas through to converged final designs • Equally comfortable in big-picture strategy and deep technical discussions • Able to comprehend, communicate and manage complex design trade-off decisions • Can work collaboratively and cross-functionally throughout entire organization • Able to influence others without authority and build trust with other teams • Can identify the key interfaces between product modules and ensure that the definitions of those interfaces are well controlled. • Systems engineering, decision analysis, requirements management or operations research education preferred • Experience working with novel life science or medical technologies would be beneficial, but not essential. A consumer product, automotive or aerospace background (for example) could also be ideal.
