• Waracle is a world-class digital technology consultancy and home to a diverse, smart, curious and ambitious community of specialists in technology-driven transformation. • We work with ambitious clients to help them solve their biggest business and customer challenges. • We help our clients to innovate and create intelligent digital products and services. • We thrive on complex challenges and deliver business-critical IT transformation projects, moving seamlessly from strategy, design and delivery to operations. • Our growth has been based on great people working collaboratively with innovative clients, we are constantly seeking the best industry talent to join our dynamic teams, gaining experience and exposure to a range of languages and technologies. • We want our work to have a positive impact within our key industries of digital health, financial services and energy. • Contributing to a Healthier, Wealthier and Greener world. • Waracle is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join us on a contract (Outside IR35) basis. • The Senior Engineer will be based from any of our offices (Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or London) in a hybrid working pattern. • As a Backend Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining server-side applications and services. • You will work closely with our front-end developers, product teams, and DevOps to ensure the seamless delivery of highly scalable and reliable applications. • As a Senior Engineer, your responsibilities will include: • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend systems. • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices. • Collaborate with the front-end team to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic. • Ensure high performance, quality, and responsiveness of backend services. • Manage and deploy cloud-based applications, ensuring scalability, security, and availability. • Implement and maintain databases, including performance tuning and optimization. • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code. • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues to optimise application performance and user experience. • Work in an Agile environment, participating in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives. • Implement security and data protection measures. • Collaborate with DevOps to optimise CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployments.

Requirements

• Solid background working with Node.JS and related frameworks. • Experience working with .NET services and tools. • Strong experience with TypeScript. • Hands on experience with cloud services, ideally Azure. • Experience with building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. • Solid understanding of version control systems (Git) and Agile development methodologies. • Knowledge of security best practices, including data protection, encryption, and OAuth. • Background working within highly regulated environments such as Financial Services would be a bonus.
