• Advise RDG and the REGS Steering Group on engineering skill gaps within the sector. • Assist in the development of the scheme and additional solutions to meet the requirements of the industry. • Own the training policy Developing Engineers (DE’s) joining the industry engineering community from university or further education. • Act as REGS Advisor to developing engineers and mentors. • Attend and deliver graduate start-up meetings alongside mentor, line manager, and Industry Early Career Manager, guiding new entrants through UK Spec and IMechE requirements, scheme features and scheme monitoring. • Attend 6-monthly review meetings with developing engineer, mentor and line manager to review progress of competencies through MPDS (Monitored Professional Development Scheme) and ensure timely reporting. • Deliver quarterly training advisor report to REGS Steering Group. • Support the continued development of the scheme and its graduates by reviewing and updating the training provision according to UK SPEC alongside Industry Early Careers Manager. • Support the Industry Early Career Manager with the delivery of annual REGS Inductions and Conference. • Support the accreditation/re-accreditation of the scheme by the professional institutions on a 3 yearly cycle. • Be watchful of any trends in training development for engineers and report any impact and new approach may have on REGS.
• Registered as either CEng or IEng with either the IMechE or IET. • Active IET or IMechE member well regarded in the engineering community. • Previous experience as a Mentor, supporting the development of mechanical/ electrical engineers. • Familiar with the rail sector and the skills engineers are required to possess within it.
