Description
• Let companies purchasing carbon removal credits understand and inspect down to a source how, when and if that carbon was truly removed, converted and stored permanently by building a flexible software and hardware platform. • Define novel measurement, reporting and verification mechanisms that let the carbon removal industry scale. • Build an early engineering team culture that values scientific rigour, pragmatism, learning and teamwork through mentoring your teammates. • Correctly process structured and unstructured data in batch or real-time fashion, applying mathematical and machine learning models to it, all the way to making it available via APIs to our data visualisation layer. • Design scalable systems that let us move fast today, but are flexible enough to evolve over time – as we learn more about what the world needs from us. • Mentor your peers and support your team in achieving the team goals. • Eagerness to learn new things and ask all the questions. It’s a tough problem but we can’t give up. • Our engineers are diverse and product-minded with background experience in highly varied environments, from writing the first line of code at Day 0 startups, to building high scale systems at companies like Meta, Deliveroo or Shopify. • Our backend is built with strongly typed Python using Strawberry, communicating via an auto-generated GraphQL client with our Next.js, React and Typescript UIs (with Tailwind for CSS), and backed by a Postgres DB. Our production services run in containers on Google Cloud Platform, managed by Terraform. We use Sentry and Datadog for observability. Our monorepo codebase is hosted in Github and we use Graphite for stacking PRs. • We collaborate in Slack, Figma, Notion, Airtable, Zoom and Google Workspace. We believe in high quality code reviews and investing in automation or tools that maximize developer productivity. • We’re happy to work with humans with experience in all, any or none of these tools and technologies.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field • Strong experience in software engineering, data science, or related roles • Prior experience with building scalable systems and mentoring team members • Eagerness to learn new technologies and methodologies • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, diverse team environment
